Helmet, M2, 2/501, 101st Airborne Division, INLAND Liner, Normandy, Holland, Bastogne
Exceptional US Army M2 paratrooper helmet, original World War II, with front seam and shell number 197C.
A true veteran of the battles of Normandy, Holland, and the Battle of the Bulge (Bastogne). Period combat modification: chinstraps and bails removed, V-shaped chinstrap cut. Insignia and NCO band painted twice.
The distinctive insignia of the 2nd Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division is painted on each side of the shell. The horizontal bar painted on the back indicates the wearer’s non-commissioned officer status; a projectile slightly dented the steel without penetrating it.
Comes with its original liner, the specific paratrooper model made by Inland, retaining its web suspension, leather sweatband, and unpainted A washers.
Rare opportunity to acquire a genuine, untouched, matching set.
