On December 16, 1944, the German army launched a major offensive across the densely wooded Ardennes region of Belgium, under the code name “Wacht am Rhein.” The town of Bastogne, a key road junction and important logistics center, was one of the main targets. The small Belgian town and its surroundings were surrounded by German forces, isolating a large number of American troops inside the pocket. These troops resisted repeated enemy assaults for many days in adverse weather and environmental conditions. The resistance of the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles” was remarkable and legendary. On December 26, the counteroffensive by armored divisions of the US Third Army, under the command of General George Smith Patton, ended the siege. This box set allows you to create a diorama representing the fighting around Bastogne.
