Shirt, Wool, Elastique, Officer's, Chocolate, 1st Lt. Daniel Hays, Medical Department
Nice genuine WWII US Army officer's shirt, chocolate elastique wool (Dark OD 51).
This type features shoulder loops sewn above the sleeves and buttoned near the collar; when the shirt was worn as an outer garment, rank insignia were pinned on the shoulder loops, up until August 1942.
Tailored by Saks, Fifth Avenue, New York City.
Complete and in very good overall condition.
Shoulder width: 18.90in. Sleeve length: 24in.
The name tag sewn in the collar indicates that the present shirt once belonged to some Daniel M. Hays.
Daniel Mauger Hays, born on March 9, 1919 in Reading, Pennsylvania, served in the Medical Department from 1941 to 1947. He was discharged as a Captain, and passed away on April 7, 2016.
