Exceptional genuine WWII US Army M1942 parachute jumper coat, made in windproof and water-resistant cotton cloth, introduced in December 1941 and intended for being worn with matching trousers.
This type features slanted breast pockets for easier access to contents.

Complete and in excellent overall condition; the various markings visible on the inner and outer surfaces of this jacket indicate that it once belonged to 2nd Lieutenant Arthur J. Becthel, ASN O-1643413. Zipper in non-working condition.
Arthur John Becthel was born on October 2, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and joined the National Guard on February 17, 1941 (ASN 20317017). Inducted into Federal Service in 1943 and commissionned as a 2nd Lieutenant, he was awarded his 'jump wings' and deployed to Europe. Discharged in early 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant, he passed away on April 25, 2004.
