Genuine WWII US Navy M1 helmet, front rim seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 357A.
Original early canvas chinstrap with brass buckle and hook.
The outer surface of the shell has been adorned with a yellow stripe (1.7-inch-high) around the full circumference, indicating that the present helmet saw service with some naval amphibious unit. Digit 2 has been painted in blue on the front.
Comes along with an original liner, manufactured by Firestone, retaining its original khaki cotton suspension and neckband, leather sweatband, and blackened-brass A washers.
The present lot is in quite good, worn condition.
