Genuine WWII US Army canteen, manufactured by S.M. Co. in 1943, with standard regulation cup made by A.G.M. Co. in 1943, too.
This lot comes in its original canvas cover, produced by Shane Mfg. Co. and also dated 1943.
Great homogeneous set, in very good overall condition; name Fosburg K.R. has been stenciled on these three elements.
Kenneth Robert Fosburg was born on August 12, 1925 in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania and joined the US Navy on September 15, 1943 (service number 895-91-77). He deployed to Europe in 1944 (March-November) with LST 58, and participated in the invasion of Normandy from June 6 to 25 (Utah Beach). Transferring to the Pacific in 1945 (March-December), he served at Naval Base Iwo Jima. He was discharged on December 31, 1945 as a Hospital Apprentice 1st Class, and passed away on November 20, 1999.
