Very scarce genuine WWII US Army M1 helmet, front seam and fixed loops, manufactured by McCord, shell number 144D. Original canvas chinstrap with early brass buckle and hook. Complete with its original liner, manufactured by Firestone, retaining its khaki cotton web suspension and plain steel A washers.
The present helmet shows some interesting modifications, which are specific to the USAAF: the shell has undergone some welding work on each side, while the sides of the liner has been simply cut off, thus allowing the aircrew to wear a pair of receivers under the whole assembly.
Great homogeneous set in good, worn condition.
