Genuine WWII USAAF brass hook, intended for being attached to the flying helmet in order to secure the Type A-10 or Type A-14 oxygen masks.
This item could be used with various American flying helmets, such as the Type A-11, as well as the British Type C, which was widely used by 8th Air Force pilots and aircrews.
Manufactured by Rau Fastener Co. in Providence, Rhode Island.
