Genuine WWI US Army M-1917 Brodie helmet, on the front of which the 3rd Infantry Division insignia has been hand-painted. Shell is hallmarked FS 29 inside.

The present shell is in good overall condition and retains all original liner components apart from the chinstrap. Size 6 3/4.

The 3rd Infantry Division first saw action in July 1918 during the Aisne-Marne Offensive, during which the formation earned its spurs -- from then on, its 38th Infantry Division would be known as 'The Rock of the Marne'.
