Grouping, WAC, British-Made, 1944, Sgt. Jeanne Betcher, 9th Air Force, USAAF, ETO
Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, which once belonged to some Sergeant Jeanne E. Betcher, Women's Army Corps, and includes the following elements:
- British-made standard regulation 'Ike Jacket' retaining all original insignias: 'U.S.' and Air Corps collar discs, 9th Air Force shoulder sleeve insignia (embroidered on felt), Sergeant rank stripes, ribbon bars (Good Conduct Medal, WAC Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal), five Overseas Service Bars and one Service Stripe; last name Betcher has been written on the label, dated 1944; size 14R;
- matching skirt, also manufactured in Britain in 1944, in which some Jeanne E. Betcher name tag has been sewn; size 16S.
Great homogeneous set, in in excellent overall condition.
Jeanne Emilie Betcher was born on June 7, 1908 in Belleville, New Jersey to a French mother and a Russian father, and joined the US Army on October 8, 1942 (ASN A-220117). She went on to serve in the Air Forces and deployed to Europe with the 9th Air Force from April 23, 1943 to September 26, 1945. A recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, she was discharged in October 1945 as a Sergeant, and passed away on May 24, 1999.
