Genuine Vietnam War USAF dye marker packet, intended for life preservers.
Introduced in August, 1943, this rubberized canvas pouch was to be glued onto the left-hand side of the 'Mae West' — when dissolving in water, the colroed powder contained in the packet would mark the area around pilots or air crews who had fallen into the sea.
