Helmet, M2, Fixed Loops, D-Ring, Camouflaged, Pfc. Fritz Muller, 501st PIR & 503rd RCT, WIA, 1945, Philippines

Rare genuine WWII US Army M2 helmet, front rim seam and fixed D-shaped loops, shell number 188C.

The left-hand side ring retains its half canvas strap with brass hook, while the right-hand ring is missing.

The outer surface of the shell features a theater-made camouflage pattern applied with black paint, and laundry number M7388 at the rear.

Good, worn condition; once belonged to Private First Class Fritz Muller.

Fritz Arno Muller was born on June 4, 1923 in Stollberg, Saxony, Germany, and arrived in New York City on May 14, 1925 with his mother, joining his father who had emigrated in October 1923. He joined the US Army on December 12, 1942 and re-enlisted on October 18, 1943 (ASN 13177388). He was awarded his 'jump wings' and, following a period with 501st PIR, went on to serve with 503rd PIR in the Pacific, where he was dropped on Corregidor Island, Philippines on February 16, 1945 prior to participating in the amphibious landing in the vicinity of Silay, Negros Island on April 17 of that year, where he was wounded in action. He was discharged on December 7, 1945, and passed away on April 12, 2007.
