Rare genuine WWII US War Departement identification card for medical personnel, of the plasticised type introduced in 1944 to supersede the former cardboard version adopted in 1942.

Issued in accordance with instructions of the 1929 Geneva Convention, which required that protected military and civilian personnel should carry an official document to be recognized as non-fighting personnel.

Very good overall condition; issued to Private First Class Ralph E. McKinley on November 24, 1944.

His individual pay record, immunization register and various personal documents complete the present lot.

Ralph Emerson McKinley was born on September 6, 1913 in Darby, Ohio and joined the US Army on November 21, 1942 (ASN 35615549). He went on to serve with the Medical Department and deployed to Europe with 81st Field Hospital, which saw service in France and Germany. He was discharged on January 9, 1946 as a Private First Class, and passed away on August 6, 1997.
