Jacket, Mountain, US Army, 38R
Rare genuine WWII US Army mountain jacket, made in wind- and water-resistant cotton cloth, introduced in 1942.
This type features two patch pockets with flap-covered Conmar zippers on the brest and two buttoned-flap, cut-in pockets on the hips. The jacket closes down the front with a Talon zipper and four buttons, including one under the collar. A wide loops is located at the rear, and two smaller on the sides, in order to house a waist belt -- not included here -- and thus adjust the tightness.
The rear is fitted with a large gusset compartment, closing with another Talon zipper, intended for carrying spare clothes and combat rations when the rucksack was not carried. The inner suspenders -- missing here -- were designed for distributing the overall weight when the various cargo pockets were loaded.
Size 38R.
Complete and in very good overall condition; all zippers are in working order.
