Good, worn condition. Name Alvin H. Smith and rank HA1c (Hospital Apprentice 1st Class) have been handwritten on the name tag.
Alvin Hoge Smith was born on March 27, 1921 in Roanoke, Virginia and joined the US Navy in September 1942 (658-97-38). After completing preliminary training, he was assigned to Naval Hospital Pensacola and subsequnetly went on to serve aboard the USS Crotan (CVE-55), an escort carrier, in 1945-1946. He was discharged as a Pharmacist's Mate 1st Class and passed and passed away on February 7, 2014.
