Extremely rare genuine WWII USAAF shearling Type B-7 parka, designed for Arctic climate.

Manufactured by Aero Leather Clothing Co. in Beacon, New York; size 42R.

Introduced in June 1941, this winter flight gear was intended for being worn in extreme cold conditions and was particularly appreciated by aircrews and ground crews stationed in Alaska. This garment was produced for less than a year and very few have survived -- as a matter of fact, they have become some particularly desirable wartime artefacts.

The mid-thigh parka, which is made up of several pieces assembled and sewn together, features an adjustable hood lined with actual fur and secured by a short strap with pin buckle, two side pockets with zippers and two patch pockets on the front, while the front zipper is covered by a flap fitted with five large round buttons, thus ensuring a perfect isolation in harsh wind.

Quite good, worn condition despite various signs of small wear and repair.
