Genuine WWII French shoulder sleeve insignia, made up of a tricolor shield bearing mention France in blue capital letters.
Manufactured in the United States; OD edge.
Initially designed for Free French Forces who trained in the USA and French personnel attached to the US Army (such as interpreters), it appears that this type was also worn by elements of the Armée d'Afrique, and in an unofficial fashion by some American veterans who had seen action in France in 1944-1945.
Mint, unissued condition.
