Rare genuine WWII US Army grouping, which belonged to Private First Class Daniel O. Ferris, Jr., 406th Infantry Regiment, 102nd Infantry Division and includes the following items:
- other ranks wool serge off-duty 'Ike jacket' retaining all original insignia: 102nd Infantry Division shoulder sleeve insignia, Private First Class rank stripes, U.S. and Infantry collar discs, pair of 406th Infantry Regiment distinctive insignia, Combat Infantryman Badge with black backing, ribbon bars (Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Army of Occupation Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Stars, WWII Victory Medal), Expert badge with 'Rifle', 'Auto Rifle', 'Carbine' and 'Pistol' bars, three Overseas Service Bars and one Service Stripe; size 42L; name Ferris has been written in the collar;
- dark OD 51 garrison cap, featuring the light blue piping of the Infantry and adorned with the 406th Infantry Regiment distinctive insignia; corresponds to size 7;
- OD flannel shirt with gas flap -- the original buttons have been replaced with snap fasteners; size 16 x 35;
- OD garrison cap, without any piping; corresponds to size 7;
A file containing copies of various documents related to his wartime service complete this interesting and homogeneous lot, in very good overall condition.
A cardboard souvenir album, a German-English pocket dictionnary and a lot of various insignia complete this nice homogeneous set, in very good overall condition.
Daniel Ostrander Ferris, Jr. was born on October 17, 1921 in Wilmington, Delaware and joined the US Army on March 24, 1943 (ASN 35060675). He went on to serve with Company H, 406th Infantry Regiment, 102nd Infantry Division, deployed to Europe, and was discharged on May 12, 1946 as a Private First Class. He passed away on June 1st, 1988.
