Soldbuch, Ob. Gefr. Johann Köhler, Fallschirmjäger-Flak-Abteilung 2, 2. Fallschirmjäger-Division
Extremely rare genuine WWII German Soldbuch, which belonged to some Obergefreiter Johann Köhler.
Born on October 6, 1920 in Großlo, now Velký Luh, present-day Czech Republic, he joined the Luftwaffe in August 1939.
He went on to serve with Flak-Regiment 23 and deployed to Poland, France, and the USSR, prior to transferring to Fallschirmjäger-Flak-Abteilung 2 of 2. Fallschirmjäger-Divisionen in January 1944. After another tour in the USSR and a period of rest in Germany in May, he participated in the Battle of Normandy in June and in the defense of Brest in August-September 1944.
Promoted to Gefreiter in May 1940 and to Obergefreiter in June 1941, he was awarded the Flak badge on December 20, 1941 and the Ostmedaille (Eastern Front Medal) on July 18, 1942.
Complete and in quite good, used condition.
It seems that Johann Köhler moved to the United States after the war and passed away in 1962; he was buried in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery at Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
